Stay Home, Stay Safe,

Updated: Apr 16, 2020

Given the circumstances a lot of people are either finding new hobbies, or they are getting back into what they love to do. For some of us the main root that stops us from doing the things we truly love is time. As a community, a country, we all need to stay home in order to stop the spread of COVID-19, but we also need to make sure that in the process of doing so, we are taking care of ourselves whether it is mentally or physically.

I know I am not the only one who spent their first week home away from work and college browsing through all of my social media platforms, opening new social media accounts like Tik Tok, watching YouTube videos, watching movies and series on Netflix, and lastly, having a mental break down because you no longer know what to do and suddenly you don't know what you are doing with your life.

No? not you? Oh.... ok awkward....

EITHER WAYS... Todays post is dedicated to the people who have had an experience like mine, or not (if you insist).

Here is a list of a couple things I've personally done to make myself feel better or simply keep my mind working.

Complete Unfinished Tasks

It's no secret that a lot of us are in some sort of nonstop treadmill full of tasks to complete, but not so much time or even energy. Fortunately, a lot of us were given the chance to stay home throughout these days, so why not catch up on work or school assignments, or finish the projects you once began but never finished. I'm sure we all had a time when we wished we could stay home to just catch up, well here it is!

Cook or Bake

I highly doubt that I am the only one who's going through the phone so late at night and come across a video of a delicious meal or dessert being prepared. Maybe this is the time to turn your kitchen upside down. The goal is not to leave your home, so before starting, why not search for a recipe that involves the ingredients you already have at home? The following link will take you to a website that will do all the searching for you! All you have to do is check all of the ingredients you have at home. https://myfridgefood.com/

Exercise

How many of you are ever enjoying a really good meal or snack, or are simply just laying down, and suddenly you stop, look down, and say "okay, I will start working out starting tomorrow for sure." The next day arrives and you are just like, "Well how awkward would it be to begin working out on a Wednesday? I will start on Monday." And that goes on and on! Whether it is in your living room or your backyard, if it's for 15 minutes or an hour, make it a part of your everyday routine.

Home Photoshoot

If you are like me, you enjoy going to work and/or school a little more because you get to show off your amazing outfits, hairstyle, and/or makeup; however, since the shutdown, you haven't had the chance to showoff that new outfit sitting in your closet. Grab a blanket with your favorite pattern, pick a room with the best lighting in your house, set the blanket as a background and become the new top model of the world, or just your house.

Start a New Business

Some of us are already in the path we always dreamed of being in, the rest of us are still not sure what we want to do, or we've always dreamed of starting our own business but our busy schedule kept us away from taking action. Take the extra time you now have at home to do some research on the type of business you want to make. After doing research, decide what your budget is, and prepare your strategic plan. Everyone has to start from somewhere, and if you put your mind to anything, you can make it happen. There are hundreds of credible articles and videos on how to begin your own business, now it's time to use your smart device to make smart decisions.

Create a Website

Create a website to showcase your product/s or service/s whether you're starting a new business or already have a business, you should take the experience we're all facing as an eye-opener. Many businesses have, unfortunately, completely shut down, except businesses with an online site like a facebook page, instagram page, and/or a website. This nightmare we are all going through should also make us realize that there are hundreds of people you, as a business owner, are losing because either they prefer to shop online, feel they are too far from your business front, or most importantly, don't have the ability to get to your business.

If you did not find anything you'd like to do within my list, there are thousands of other places to find motivation or hope to get through this. You will find what it is that you want to spend your time doing at the moment you least expect it. It can be through a YouTube video, a blog, a movie or show, or as you watch your parents dedicating their time doing what they most like to do. Whether this is just another idea of mine, here is to something new I'm trying!
